Hello, Welcome to PinkIcePanda. I started ice
skating in January, 2009. I discovered this
beautiful and graceful sport when I went
recreational ice skating early that month while on
vacation in NYC. That was at the world-famous
Ice
Rink at Rockefeller Center. I felt natural out on the
ice and wanted to start taking lessons when I got
home so that I could become better at
recreational ice skating. At the time, actually
figure skating had never entered my mind. I just
wanted to know how to ice skate properly. I
started taking classes at
Athletic Arts Academy
once a week on Monday nights. Soon though, I
found a passion in ice skating and wanted to go
further with it. I now wanted to compete. I joined
groups online specifically for adult skaters, like
Competitive Adult Skaters (CAS) on Yahoo
Groups. This group of people got me motivated to
go even further with my skating and to set
meaningful goals for myself. I soon met some local
adult skaters and was even invited by them to
come watch them compete at a local
USFS
competition, Pacific Coast Adult Sectionals.
Watching that competition motivated me even
more and I REALLY wanted to compete after that. I
wanted to be one of those beautiful graceful girls
out there skating on the ice and not just a
spectator watching them skate. I found out about
a local competition that I could compete in at my
level called The Red. White, & Blue ISI Open and
wanted to compete in that. I started taking private
lessons with one of the coaches that coached the adult beginners class I was
currently taking. I also started going several days a week to another rink about 20
minutess away from me that had open skate every day. That is when I met my current
coach, Brittney Porter. I would watch her coaching a wonderful young seven year old
skater and was amazed. Brittney was a good coach and I decided to give her a try.  I
soon started working with her at
Las Vegas Ice Center and quit going to the other
rink all together. Through working with Brittney, I began passing up the various
beginner levels quickly. I was practically passing one level each month. I soon
participated in my first figure skating competiion. I left the rink that day with 3 first
place medals.
